Artist The Digital Blonde
Comments This artist generally means you are in for a treat and this is no exception. Not sure if this ever got a pucker release, which is a real shame. This has that real anthem feel to it that just rocks. Bit slow to get going, but when it stops and you get that euphoric feeling; you know what's coming. In your face, full on trance at it's best. The pace picks up nicely throughout the main bit adding some new noises that just keep the old mouth watering. My moan, not long enough.
Label White Label : Released July 1999

Comments A real gem this one and I'd forgotten I even had it. Runs at a surprisingly slow 134 BPM as it sounds much much faster. Builds upto a real killer tune, has that real drive about it that it knows it has something to deliver. Once this really gets going, you can't touch it; this would still stand up now and make the newer stuff look very poor in comparison. Track this down and buy it, it still kicks major butt.
Label Whoop! Records : Released June 1999

Comments A really cool and happy tune. This was out at the time when Aquarius were a big big label and Swan was one of their large artists. I loved the happy happy piano music and this delivered large style. A pumping tune, great synths, some really strange noises and a well cool piano chorus over the top to boot. Slow off the mark, which is a shame; but still tops.
Label Aquarius : Released June 1999

3/5 : Good
Artist Ice 794
Comments A good record that has / had real potential. Good solid funky 136 BPM that builds up really well to the main anthem. This is very reminiscent of the house / trance fusion of this time and used a really cool reverb type piano noise, in fact it almost sounded like plucking an off tune guitar. It also has that real cool 'shrieking' noise that all the old acid tunes had, the sort that when you heard it in a club you went of on one. Takes an age to get going and doesn't keep going for long, which is this tune's biggest downfall. Good when it does though
Label Additive : Released June 1999

Comments Pure energy. This is a definitive trance tune that absolutely rocks beyond everything. Just listening to this again makes my hairs stand on end. This is probably one of my Tope 10 fave tunes of all time. I love this record sooooo much. It's fast, pacey and just oozes energy. It just has that total feeling that envelopes you to another state of mind. I lie not, this is as good as it gets and I can only dream of something that's better. In fact, this was double A sided with Supernova; which is also brilliant. Transa were the defining group of their time and still kick arse now. Sublime.
Label Xtra Nova : Released June 1999

3/5 : Good
Artist Swan
Comments There are quite a few mixes of this one doing the rounds, which I first heard on the Aquarius label. There is a really nice ambient version, but this little dance number is pretty good. Binary Finary were the boys after 1998 and this isn't a bad effort. I love the tune as it is so distinctive and one of them that when you heard it you knew what the tune was. The mix itself is a bit samey and very Binary Finary, which is a shame. I think this was one of them that should have worked because of the remixer, but just missed the mark.
Label Aquarius : Released June 1999

Artist Cass vs. Slide
Comments Oooooo nice. Flying Rhino were the pioneers of progressive house and Cass v Slide were massive. This is exactly that, a progressive house track with some really cool trance elements thrown in for good measure. The beginning works up nicely to a real thumping and hard chorus. I love the different fresher drum beat thrown in for good measure that chnages the whole track about and then WHAM, the tune arrives. In your face 150%, brilliant.

Comments The original big daddy tune that has inspired so many rip offs and remixes. This is still being remixed now, it's so good. When I first heard this I went mad, just loved the beat. Good solid tune that cruises along at 137 BPM and has that air of old skool about it with the simple thudding bass line. This is just a great track, nothing more to be said

Comments That awesome Transa feel is something that is just so nice. Love the artist name as I often felt similar on a Sunday and needed a tune like this to perk me up! This has enough pace and feeling to make this almost a classic. The thing that lets it down is that it just sounds like Transa. This isn't a bad thing at all, but you can get too many samey tunes. The vocals in places sound really cool and just lift it up that bit further. This is a great tune.
Label Yeti Records : Released May 1999

Artist John 00 Fleming
Comments Not much to say about this artist, except his high quality tunes. Not often you will come across a naff one by this guy, which is why the React label loved him so much. This is a really great tune to get you going, super tune for the beginning of the night. From the off it's very much ?boom boom?, let's get going. Even when this isn't in full flow, you know that something special is on the way. The problem is that it does seem to take ages to get there, even though the tune changes pace and throws in a siren like noise; which always went down well in the clubs. A good tune.
Label React : Released May 1999

Comments O happy happy music. I really enjoyed this tune and having listened to it again still like it. Wonderful bouncy beat that just oozed club tune all over it. Then you had the chating over the top which at the time was quite novel and this really seemed to up the tempo of the whole thing. On top of all that, you then had the man speaking which I think just put the icing on the cake. Happy happy music in a happy happpy time.
Label Hooj Choons : Released April 1999

Artist DJ Taucher
Comments This was an absolutely massive tune on a massive label. When this stops and the child starts to talk and then it breaks into some opera style tune, I went ballistic. This was everything that trance was about and when you heard this loud those hairs on the back of your neck couldn't help but stand up. By far Taucher's best offering as I felt he got a bit commercial after this, but this was quite stunning.
Label Additive : Released April 1999

Artist Life on Mars
Comments There was (and still is) something about this tune that I really loved. 'Real Life' by Corporation of One had done the rounds and this ripped off the main sound of that to good effect. Nice beat and very progressive. This was so progressive that if you didn;t hear it out you missed the best bits at the end. This blened everything together into a nice sounding tune. My biggest gripe was that it didn;t do it sooner and more often as then it would have been a stunning tune.
Label Quad : Released April 1999

Comments This was one of them tunes that was crying out for a remix. Don't get me wrong, this was a good tune; but it was samey. The haunting vocals in the background were excellent and really added atmosphere, especially once the main chorus was playing. A weird and wonderful one note at a different pitch added to the then club scene sound. It worked well, but just lacked that cutting edge.
Label Additive : Released April 1999

Title The Sleeper Man With No Name Remix

Artist Quietman
Comments Wow, I'd forgotten how good this was. There wasn't too many tunes that Quietman done, but this was one of the best. To package it up there was also a 'Man With No Name' mix, who at the time was the big daddy of producers. The thing that made this stand out was the vocals from 'Dune' and the creepy piano work, almost like the tune from 'Phantasm'. Both tunes were great, full of energy and delivered a real euphoric feeling with a touch of acid. This was what it was all about.
Label Platipus : Released December 1998
