3/5 : Good
Artist The Visitors
Comments Remember Model 500 ? Well, the whole ambience of this reminds me of the old classics. This has a very retro techno feel to it with some really nice touches in places. Quite a mellow number, but there's just something about this that grabbed my attention. I love all the noises and that old skool feel to it.

Title Headfirst Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Adam Dived
Comments I'm not generally a fan of Adam Dived, so when I saw this I was a bit wary. It starts OK, with a half decent beat and some nice noises over the top. You have to leave this one to it gets half way through. You'll know when, it stops with some nice synths and then kicks into a really nice bouncey number. You could almost say it's 2 tracks in one. The later half of this more than makes up for the rather tame start.
Label Platipus : Released December 2002

Title In My Veins Kansai Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist Indiana
Comments I loved the previous effort and this takes off where that left. A good pacey number that starts well and you know it means business. This has got some really mad noises in it that almost sound like someone banging a tin can. This takes a while to really let go, but when it does it's fast. This is a definate for midnight, just when you want to go mad.
Label Platipus : Released December 2002

Title Pray Driftwood Remix

1/5 : Poor
Artist Lasgo
Comments A very disappointing follow up this one. Has a good beat and all the usual club feel to it, but it just doesn't deliver. Keeps stopping to add some naff vocals which completely break up the whole tune. I hope their next effort is better.
Label Positiva : Released December 2002

Title Dark Suite Piano Frank Traxx v ORGAN Remix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Dark Suite ft Aura
Comments Takes a while to get going this one, which just comes in under my 3 minute rule. A nice simple beat with some nice simple vocals over the top. Got a real nice 'squidgey' noise in the background which mixes very well. The real good bit kicks in after 6 minutes, which is quite a wait; but it's worth it. Runs at a pacey 139 BPM, but sounds a bit slower. Worth a listen.
Label Illustrious : Released December 2002

Title The Wave Original Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Cosmic Gate ft Jan Johnston
Comments A bit of a non event this one. I'm a fan of Jan Johnston, especially her single stuff, but this is so much aimed at the club scene. To be honest, it had got a good beat; but that's all. Same old thing really, lots of beat; stops for a bit and then the usual hard bassline with that o so common trancesque noise over the top. It's OK, but nothing special.
Label Nebula : Released December 2002

Title First Contact Regeneration Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist The Disco Brothers
Comments Nice and simple this one and it works. No fancy drums just a nice 141 BPM pacey little dance number. This is about my limit on the BPM side, but it sounds much slower. Got a really catchy tune this one which is what I like in a record. Has an awesome drum beat bit in the middle which absolutely rocks. Can certainly see myself dancing around to this one and I can't wait to mix it up.
Label Nukleuz : Released December 2002

Title Revolution Extended Mix

1/5 : Poor
Artist BK
Comments OK, this is more on the edge of being hardcore come techno, but it's quite catchy. 141 BPM with a rather annoying screech noise over the top does tend to verge on the side of irritating, but this is one of those that would be a great warm up track to get people going before you lay down the serious stuff.
Label Nukleuz : Released November 2002

Title Summer Calling Airwave Club Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Andain
Comments I really like this one as it so happy happy. I like my full on trance, but I also enjoy a nice happy track and this is it. A mellow 133 BPM moves really well and is split into 2 tracks really. The first half is more vocally which as in most leads upto the main bit. This then kicks in and moves really well and when you think it's about to end it does it all over again. Wel worth a listen this one.
Label Black Hole Recordings : Released November 2002

Title Never DJ Tiesto Remix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist The Roc Project ft Tina Arena
Comments Don't be deceived by this. All the samples I've heard, like the below, make this sound stunning. It's very very average. Has a nice beat and some nice vocals, but it just doesn't do anything until after about 6mins and then it all ends. Another disappointing Tiesto effort..
Label Illustrious : Released November 2002

Title Broken Lustral Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Lustral
Comments I used to love this outfit when they were on Hooj and now they've moved to its sister label. A very nice soft trance number this one. Starts happily enough with a nice bouncey beat and some cool vocals. You know what's coming as the synths build up behind the vocals and then it lets go with a real thumping tune. Downside is that the there should have been more of the thumping and less build up. Worth a listen.
Label Lost Language : Released November 2002

Title Illuminate Original Mix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Bart van Wissen
Comments OK, this is the not best track you're going to hear this year. In fact, it maybe considered one of the naffest. The only reason I like this is because it reminds me of an old Hooj favourite 'Stage One' by Space Manouevres. It is a realy mellow house track that has just the simplest of beat. A good tuen to start and mix with.
Label Deep Records : Released November 2002

Title Obsession Filterheadz Remix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist DJ Tiesto
Comments This is one artist who really blows hot and cold and this is cold. A very different tune from the otherwise trance master himself, i that this is a very progressive house tune. Runs at an admirable 134 BPM, but it just doesn't kick. There are a few minutes near the end which have some passion about it, but that's all. Very disappointing.
Label Nebula : Released November 2002

Title Innovator Original Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Progheadz
Comments You have to listen to this to fully apprecaite what a totally mad tune this is. Starts out with a typical 137 beat and then juts stops. Few seconds later this really loud reverb sound booms out and then it stops again, but for longer and off it goes. This is so different that I can't really categorise it. A good house come dance tune that will certainly have them listening.
Label Flex Recordings : Released November 2002

Title The Answer Scarab Remix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

4/5 niiiccceeeee
Artist DJ Stigma
Comments This track teases soooo much. Kicks off with a nice little 138 BPM classic trance sound that gets your ears listening. It thengoes on a bit of a journey by introducing little snippets hear and there along with some vocals, but just doesn't throw it all at you. Then just as you think this is going to be another mediocre track, it stops. Nice vocals and a wonderful 'quiet' symphony lead upto a full on in your face trance epic. The only thing letting this down is it takes too long to get going. However at 11 mins long the last 6 are worth the money.
