Title All By Myself DJ Mile Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist DJ Steve L
Comments I don't usually go for these 1 a penny 'Van Dyk' rip off's, but this has something about it. Don't get me wrong, this is 100% cheese; but it does have a nice hard beat and hard bassline to it. Take out the shit vocals and you have a good dance track. Too many off these, but some are half decent !!
Label Nukleuz : Released May 2003

Title Beautiful Together Signum Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist OceanLab
Comments Very typical sort of tune I would expect. Very much aimed at the charts in that it has that funky beat and vocals that the public seem to like. Signum fortunately funks things up a bit and gives this a bite that lifts it out of obscurity. Don't get me wrong, this is well put together, flows well and sounds good. It isn't what I'd expect to hear in prime time, but when driving to work in the car it's a nice happy tune that cheers me up.

Comments Wow, what a title; sort of a bit sinister. Fortunately, there isn't a knife that flies out of the speakers and kills, although there are a few mean beats. This has a nice noise to it, sort of a plucky sound that changes pitch here and there. There's also a rather nice beat thrown in for good measure and well produced progressive feel. I like this as it just delivers a good sound without over complicating the whole thing, which is nice. Chorus is fresh and lively and just good to listen to. A worthy addition to the collection.

Title Blaze Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Cupa
Comments An average sort of tune that does sort of deliver something newish. Very triumphant and direct, you get what you hear throughout. It's a good tune as it flows well and is a toe taper, but it's nothing overly special. I do like the pause in the way beat keeps going, sounds nice and funky. There are also 2 sections of the theme, both quite long which is always a nice thing to have. This is a good tune, all be it a bit samey.
Label Five AM : Released May 2003

Title Foundation Original Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Cupa
Comments This is a good first outing for Cupa, aka Gareth Emery and one that I have come to enjoy. Starts quite strangely this one almost as if you were in a jungle. Lots of strange and different noises going, which sound quite refreshing. The annoying thing is that this is quite a slow record in that just when you think it's going to kick in, it stops and does something else. There is a serious amount of potential here which is justified when it does finally start. Good solid steady beat and a nice catchy tune with the weird ?animal? noises going on. It then goes up a gear and adds some acid tunes, which again works really really well; it's just an age to get going.
Label Five AM : Released May 2003

Title Now Is The Time Plastic Angel Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Darren Tate & Mike Koglin
Comments These 2 guys have created some of my fave trcaks, so putting them together is a prospect in waiting. This does disappint a bit and it's not the usual hard htting tracks that I would expect. This is a much more methodical tune that clearly has been thought about. Moves well and has all the right ingredients for a good tune. Worth a listen.
Label Mondo Records : Released April 2003

Title Greece 2000 G&M Project Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Three Drives
Comments This was an OK track when it first came out and it does annoy me that so many Hooj tracks are continuously re-released. Perhaps they should try some original stuff. Anyway, this is a pretty good remix. Vamped and sped up quite a bit since the original and very hard. 140 BPM stonker that really is quite good. Shame it's a rehash.
Label White Label : Released April 2003

Title Desert Night Original Mix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Ramani
Comments This is quite a catchcy tune. Very basic beat with the odd vocals thrown in, but there are places where it really lifts up and sounds really cool. Mainly a house number, but certainly worth a listen if you like your house a bit drummy.
Label White Label : Released April 2003

Title Yet Another Day Hiver & Hammer Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Armin van Buuren
Comments This is a very strange track.Starts with a nice thumping beat and then stops for some male vocals, which I think are from the old 'Skip Raiders' track. It then picks up, stops and then picks up again. It takes a good 6 minutes for this to show it's true form, which is almost worth the wait. A typical trance/club track that could do with a remix to speed it up quicker
Label Nebula : Released April 2003

Title God Music Flutlicht Remix

4/5 niiiccceeeee
Artist DuMonde
Comments I like the Original Mix of this, but it's far too short. There's also a few different versions of the Flutlicht Mix doing the rounds. I have one that is 3 minutes longer than another !! That aside, this is a real quality track that you would expect from DuMonde. Sounds quicker than the 137 BPM that it is, but this really delivers. Very 'Watergate' in places, but it has that epic on a mission feel to it that I really like. A top tune.
Label Bulletproof : Released April 2003

Title Damaged Neo & Farina Remix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Plummet
Comments Works quite well this one. There's been a lot of so called trance out there which is basically some old beat with some bird squeeling over the top. This is a well worked and put together little number. All the mixes are good, but it's a shame there isn't a hybrid of the Neo Remix and the Antillas one. Neo just pips it as it's more clubby for me, whereas Antillas is a bit slow on the up. This will almost certainly get in the Top 10.
Label Serious : Released April 2003

Artist Alex Gold ft Phil Oakley
Comments Finally a half decent track on Xtravaganza. If you liked the Human League then you'll love this as it is like a blast from the past. All the synths are very 80's, but accompanied with a nice uptodate pacey beat. The chorus is catchy on the major league side, superb. To top it all, there's another track called 'L.A. Dreaming' which is an instrumental trance tune, which really rocks as well. 2 for the price of 1, fantastic.
Label Xtravaganza : Released April 2003

Title Hum Original Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Meat Katie & Lee Combs
Comments Lots of humming in this track as the title would suggest. Takes a while to get going, but throws down a really hard beat. Like the classic old skool sounds throughout which mixed with the tribal feel works quite well. This isn't a club classic, but a nice tune to mix about with to warm you up.
Label Kingsize : Released April 2003

Title Banhghazi Original Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Kingpin
Comments This is a good old plain hard hitting progressive house track. Tends towards the slightly more tribal feel due to the rather catchy sounds 'kettle drum'. Doesn't really do much more and is yet another track that is good to mix with and fills in that empty 3 minute gap.
Label Black and White : Released April 2003

Title The Boat Cicada Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Cloak & dagger
Comments This has a really old disco feel to it due to it's rather over the top bassline. Don't be fooled as it then introduces a vey simple acid effect, which I like. It then goes a bit weird and wild with some bloke rattling on about 'a boat', oddly. Not brilliant, but rather different; to say the least.
