Comments Yet another refreshing outing from Platipus. A very different sort of tune this one in that it has a very different feel and noise to it. 4 good mixes with the Club and Kansai mixes standing out from the rest. I really like the happy poppy sound that makes the main part, very different. The Club mix is a much more reserved tune, which verges on the ambient (128 BPM); but it is nice. Kansai typically throws down a hard 137 BPM trance number, which kicks. Like this a lot.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Mauro Picotto
Comments I generally like Picotto's stuff, even though he is a jumped up DJ. Komodo was brilliant and I don't think that will ever be beaten by him. This is OK, very different in that it sounds almost like hard rock. Has a good thumping beat, but an almost annoying reverbing sound all over the top. To top it all it actually changes almost completely to a very distorted all over the place sort of tune. It's OK, by try before you buy.

Title 7th Heaven Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist DJ Precision pres. MIDOR and Six4Eight
Comments This is a simple club tune that delivers just enough to warrant it's marking. Good solid beat and all the usual noises and sounds you'd expect from the artist. It just doesn't do much else, once you've heard the beat and the 'main bit?, it stays the same. Shame, as there is real potential in this one. It doesn't mean this is naff, because it isn't. It's well produced and I would welcome hearing it in a club, just needs a bit more.

Artist Pulser
Comments Two great artists helping each other out, that's what I like to see. It's a shame therefore that this takes so long to get going and on such a long tune. I reckon 3 minutes chopped out of the beginning and you would have had a real classic. That aside, once this is in full flow it's a really good little trancer. Positive beat, some nice drum work and a very haunting type synth. Changes pitch here and there to keep the tempo up and it works really well. Shame about the long build up.

3/5 : Good
Artist Push
Comments I generally like most things by Push, but there have been tunes lately which really have been quite crap. This on the other hand does pack a rather nice punch. Got a very techno feel to it, which is due to a very heavy bassline and droning noise; which I like due to it's oddness. Nice haunting synths and appropriate noises make this quite atmospheric in places. The stop / start beat works for a change as the synth carries the tune and it does sound really good when the beat kicks back in. Good theme when it gets going, I think you'd guess the artist as it has that common feel to it. Nice and refreshing.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Marco V
Comments Can't quite make this one out. It has got a really nice solid beat and all the making of a good track, but it just doesn't get off the ground soon enough. After 5 mins it starts to go and you think 'finally', but it doesn't last. Far too long an intro and ending. Disappointing as this has real potential, needs picking up for a good remix.

Title Paint Me In Sadness Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Heartdrive
Comments Hhhmm, nice and bouncy this one. Moves at a surprisingly fast beat as it sounds slower. Nice synths in the background up the atmosphere nicely and the vocals, when they are there, work OK. This is out of Holland and makes a nice change to all the usual stuff bounding around. It isn't brilliant, but would work well at the beginning of a set to warm 'em all up !

Title Magic Fly PPK Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist Minimalistix
Comments I like this as it's a refreshing cheesey tune. I love the old Russian element that PPK seem to add to almost everything they do, yes it's samey, but it's a nice trademark. You know where you stand with this lot, there tunes are very happy and always move along nicely and get the old toes taping. Does sound very similar to most of the other stuff, but I just like the synths on this and it is very catchy. Not everyone's cup of tea (or bottle of Bud), but I like it.

Artist Floyd
Comments Floyd, aka The Mystery, comes up with a really nice uplifting little number on what is becoming a fave label of mine. Starts really nicely with a purposeful beat and some nice piano music. Then the obligatory stop for a pause throws in a completely different vamped up piano and then a much harder beat underneath. I like this a lot, very nice.

Comments Ohhhhh yes, what I can say, ohhhhhh yeeeeeessssss. Brilliant this, quite brilliant. I like anything with a nice tribal feel to it and this has that and an awesomely hard beat. Stumbles around for a bit and just when you're not expecting it, wham bam a tune to die for. The main chorus is so good that you will want it to go on forever and ever and unfortunately it doesn't. All the in between stuff works well, leading upto that fabulous chorus. If you want hard trance with some serious euphoria thrown in, get this.

3/5 : Good
Artist Liquid People vs. Talk Talk
Comments I don't usually go for all these remixes of old tunes, but this works oh so well. Originally out in 85/86, this remix takes absolutely nothing away from the original. This is purely just vamped up with a more distinct beat and bass line, that's it. The original was great and this just brings it thumping into the current climate and on the Nebula label. OK, it's an oldie; but then I remember this first time round and I liked it then !!

Comments I absolutely love the Platipus label as it is now producing the top quality tunes of old, except now. Another new artist to the label and what a stormer this is. If you want happy, then this is so happy you'll be grinning for weeks. Really bouncy this one and it's only 127 BPM ! Fantastic beat and the chorus is what the word epic was created for. My only groan is that there's is a bit too much of the in between stuff, but quite superb otherwise.

Artist Delerium ft. Jael
Comments When 'Silence' first came out, I came in my pants for weeks as I thought it was bloody brilliant. There have been a few since, but none that really lived upto the first. This on the other hand goes some way to living upto expectations. This is a hard trance number that really packs a punch. The main chorus really goes for it a big way laying down a ferocious beat and cool some bitty vocals in places. Slows down a bit after which I never like, but then picks up and throws you to the wall. As I say, slows down to often and slightly looses the pace, but still good.
Label Nettwerk : Released June 2003

Title I Can Feel Your Love Shane 54 Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Quadraphonic
Comments Each time I hear this it reminds of 'Home' by Chakra that came out in the late 90's. It has some really nice vocals that sound almost identical, except for a different beat. Good dance tune this one which will get them arms in the air and have you humming for a few days. The problem is that it gets going, but doesn't if you know what I mean. All very fast and pacey, but you're left waiting for that killer bit that is going to blow you away and it doesn't happen. Good, but may disappoint when heard loud !
Label Lost Language : Released June 2003

Title Nothing But You Club Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Paul Van Dyk
Comments This is a tune that has so much potential, but just fails to deliver. There are 3 OK mixes, all of which are very different. The Club Mix is the better as it is was it says, a club mix. Moves long at a nice 138 BPM and will have the toes taping. I like the vocals as they are very melodic and haunting and add nicely to the whole euphoria of this. Faithless and Cirrus weigh in with OK mixes, both quite different and nice if you want to play a different version. A tad disappointing from a generally great artist.
