3/5 : Good
Artist Descent & Nicholas Bennison
Comments I first heard this on an album and liked it and then realised I'd actually already bought it ! I like the really thumping bassline and the wailing noises, really give this some atmosphere. Bit slow on the up, but when it kicks in it's well nice. That said, this is a progressive house tune so I suppose it's allow to have a build up ! The main bit is nice and funky, all be it simple. As house goes, this one's OK by me.

Title New Life Lange Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist The Thrillseekers
Comments So, Thrillseekers and Lange aie; not again ! A typical thumping tune for the ?Seekers, with a nice touch of Lange for good measure. Shame that the tune is a bit on the weak side. For 2 good producers this is very samey and doesn't pack any real punch. Yes, there are some noises going on in the background and the chorus is catchy; but a disappointing outing in my opinion. It's a good tune, just not the standards I would expect.

Title 2V2 Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Thomas Datt
Comments I'm a great one of looking out for remixers who have done a good job on other tracks and I liked this guys mix of ?Forbidden Colours? by True Form. This is equally as good as a standalone. Good solid beat and a nice simple melody that flows nicely with the tune. It's nothing complicated, just a simple catchy tune. I like simple when it's done properly and this guy does exactly that. The middle is OK, bounces along and keeps you interested. Then you get another helping of the 'simple? but, which although a bit short; is well nice.

Title Birth of Light Vincent de Moor Original Mix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist V Lock
Comments I have to admit being a bit soft for Vincent de Moor tunes and this is quite a different sort of tune for him. Used to the very epic club stuff, this is on a much more mellow tip. Bounces along nicely with a plain, but effective beat. The vocals work quite well, although I'm not too sure about the wailing. The chorus is nice, but doesn't last very long. It's one of them that juts as you begin to settle into it, it goes away. Bit disappointing, but an OK tune.

Artist Lightscape
Comments You have to stick with this tune as it turns into a rather nice little chilled number. There is a beautiful piano break in the middle that blends into a really funky little beat that is very Ibiza. There are some wonderful noises thrown in for good measure that add well to the ambience of this. The thing that makes this just fall short of being a stunner is the daft bits in the middle that sound like they should be in another tune all together. The choruses are brill, the surrounding bits need refining; otherwise a fantastic tune.

Title Ready for Life Riley & Durrant Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Pro-Sonic
Comments Sounds quite a hard bass tune when this starts, but fortunately it slows down to something that sounds considerably better. This is an OK tune that doesn't really deliver too much that I haven't already heard before. Nice beat with a solid sound throughout, but that's about it. This follows the trance tune manual and does what it says and doesn't really deviate too much. There's a slight change of pace in the middle which works with me, but overall a fairly average tune.
Label Dedicated Holland : Released May 2004

Title Illuminate Original Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist MK-S
Comments This is surprisingly slow for MK-S. It starts with a funky beat and a passionate sound, but takes a while to really let rip on your senses. That said, the build up is good and the main theme is very good. Has a nice bouncy feel to it with some cool twangy sounding synth work. Nothing too different throughout, but the chorus is a nice long one; which will always score highly with me. It's a shame there isn't more than one chorus and the build up is so long otherwise this would be a real cracker. As it stands, it's still a good tune.
Label ATCR : Released May 2004

Title Mr Blue The Thrillseekers Remix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Usual Aspect
Comments This is a teasing affair as you know when this starts that it is going to be an OK tune, plus it's remixed by The Thrillseekers. It does take a while to get going, but the main tune is a very nice and relaxing number. Simple beat with a subtle piece of synth and a main noise which can only be described as an electronic wind pipe. The choruses are unfortunately a bit on the short side and with the drawn out intro this does let it down a bit. The main themes work well and would be better suited in a less stop / start tune.
Label Motion Recordings : Released May 2004

Title Overdrive Original Mix

Artist Clokx
Comments This is a bit more like it. This is a real simple tune that just does the biz. No fancy rubbish or long intros, just a solid tune. 138 BPM, but it does sound a bit more on the mellow side and it's nice and long which always goes down well for a good one. Happy happy all the way and this is one that really makes me tap them feet and play again immediately after. The one draw back is that it does sound like stuff that's already out there, but this has been well produced.
Label Spinnin' Records : Released April 2004

Title Satellite Above & Beyond Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist OceanLab
Comments This is a pretty OK record. I like nearly everything that 'Above and Beyond' have remixed, hence why I bought this. This is a real good club tune and moves along really really well. The vocals even work in this one as they seem to harmonise well with the beat. There are 2 other mixes on the disc, which are both OK; but this one gets my seal of approval. The problem with this is that it isn't long enough. Once it starts banging away it stops and dies, which is disappointing. A good tune nonetheless.
Label NuLife : Released April 2004

Title Mayhem in Miami Original Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist BK and Paul Masteron
Comments This is very typical of the Nukleuz label. A hard 137 BPM number that, to be honest, is very average. What I like is the guitar strumming in the middle as it just gives the track that extra push that it needs. Apart from that, nothing special. The continuous chanting is a tad annoying and could do with being axed. Can't really say who would like this, but definitely listen to it before spending your cash.
Label Nukleuz : Released April 2004

Title Loaded Remix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Sander Van Doorn
Comments This is the first outing for both artist and label and it isn't too bad. Very much on the progressive house tip, with some really deep and moody rhythms. It does have its moments where it sounds like its funking up, but apart from that this is a fairly run of the mill tune. If you like house music, then check it out.
Label Oxygen : Released April 2004

Title Sunny Quasar Remix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

1/5 : Poor
Artist Boogie Pimps
Comments This is generally the sort of stuff I avoid like the plague, but this just (only just) makes it past my 'crap detector'. OK, this is a really cheesy tune, solely aimed at the charts; but for an old boy like me it's a bit nostalgic. A rip off of the classic by 'Boney M'; which should have been left a classic. Saying that, the Pimps are a bit notorious for doing it. This has no real place in any decent dance collection, but for some it will go down well.
Label Data Records : Released April 2004

Title Come Around Again Dub Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Signum ft. Anita Kelsey
Comments Generally Signum is a very good producer / artist, but he does blow hot and cold and this is one of them. Not his usual thumping stuff that you would expect, this is much more on the mellow tip. Doesn't really get going, plods along at a happy rate and just doesn't do anything else. It's a nice tune, quite atmospheric in places and generally OK. The vocal version sucks in my opinion, they just don't work. As the Dub goes, would be OK at the beginning or end of a set.
Label A State of Trance : Released April 2004

Title Nocturnal Delight Matt Darey Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

4/5 niiiccceeeee
Artist Matt Darey
Comments This is quite a different sound for Mr Darey and one that is a refreshing change to the usual hard beat. This has a good club feel to it and sounds good when played loud. I like the piano which has been sampled nicely and the animal noises, adding to the track title. There's the usual typical Darey feel in there in places, which pump this up above the bassline. A welcome tonic.
Label Darey Products : Released April 2004
