Title Norland Original Mix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Max Solar & Next Beat
Comments Taken from the Future Fusion EP, this is the best pick in my opinion. The EP itself isn't great, so much potential in the tunes; but don't deliver as well as they should. This has a typical trance beat, but quite an untypical synth in the melody. It's like a funked up trumpet, so very loud and very much in your face. It works more than it doesn't as it is quite overbearing with the rest of the tune, but it's a brave attempt at something different. The tune isn't very long so the artist hasn't really expressed himself enough, but a decent first effort.

Comments Can't have a month without a tune from Running Man, this guy is busy. That said, being bust can sometimes mean you are churning out crap; which lately there would be some evidence of this. Good news, not this time; plus it's on the very good Unearthed label. The middle has a very nice slowdown section, after a nice pacey start. The synth is quite unusual and works and sounds really good, especially with the rest of the tune around it. There is a massive build-up to the main melody, very euphoric, very progressive and very good. The melody is very strong, delivering a good sound and vibe; this is the artist at his best. It's not ground breaking in any way, but it is a sound that just works; so why change things. The second half of the melody builds on what you heard early on. A well produced tune.

Comments I have been a fan of Solarstone for many years, so always look forward to new stuff. This has a beautiful start, a nice rolling beat and some good ‘wave' effect synths. This is very nicely built upon, by adding some new beats and more purpose in the sound you are hearing. You soon get some synths that lift this up quite dramatically, only for it all to slow down. The teasing is not fair. You have to wait a bit longer and then the tune launches properly and it sounds really good. Some nice new synth sounds make it sound very upfront, but it keeps what you heard in the build-up; this works really well. The second half of the melody gets a further boost with even more sound, just when you think you've had enough it gives you an extra helping. This just works at extra level, it won't be everyone's tune as it's a real trance purists track; but as a tune this is top.

Comments This is a very good EP; all 3 tunes are of the highest quality; very rare indeed. This is a real trance lover's dream, hard pounding beats and a really deep synth. The hairs on the back of my neck are standing as I listen to it now, awesome. This isn't anything different, just all the right sounds put together the right way. The second half of the main anthem is to die for; it just oozes sound and quality. You will reach for the volume when this is on; turn it up loud, real loud. This is pretty much the theme throughout the EP, a must have.

Title Deep Dive Tranceye Vocal Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist Alpha Duo feat. Yana Kay
Comments With 8 different mixes, there is bound to be something you will like here. OK, a lot are just dub mixes of the vocals; but each does offer a different perspective on this tune. I've opted for the more full on approach, including the vocals which don't ruin things (for a change). Lots of noise going on here, the general background has noise about it; but that's the point on this tune. The synths are very high pitch and if you listen to this too loud your ears will melt. Although I like the track, it is a bit too noisy and because it's constant it gets a bit much. The vocals work really well because of this and don't go overboard. Towards the end this turns into a real heavy trancer, which a lot of you are going to love. This is quite full on and not for the easily deafened.

3/5 : Good
Artist Adam Szabo & Willem de Roo
Comments I like the synth in the background throughout this; it's like a beacon guiding you along. Nice start and a good build-up to the main melody. When you get there this doesn't rip me apart in any way, it delivers a sound that I am used to hearing and is very common for the label this has come out on. What you get is a solid club sound, good solid beat and some nice simple synths in harmony. The bonus is the second part of the melody where things are enhanced to give the tune a lift, it works really well and is a welcome addition to things. You also get a goof few mins with the melody to really suck it in, nice.

Comments Taken from the oddly named ‘I Am On Vinyl EP'; this is one of three good tracks; including the excellent Waterfall. This has a really deep feel to things, the underlying bass oozes dark noises and the feeling is really quite good. On top of this you get lots of moody synths, all working on that deep progressive edge. Things build-up quite nicely and the whole production works a treat. The problem comes with the tune actually getting somewhere and that doesn't' really happen. You get a melody late on which is basically everything you've heard, but enhanced. Don't get me wrong, it sounds really good; but after the great start it does feel a bit flat and short. I still like this, but want more.

Artist Chapter XJ
Comments This starts with quite a pounding beat, but does mellow down a bit. Once you get to the melody the tune does go a tad cheesy, but it's happy at the same time and this all works quite well. Subtle vocals in there to help things, but the synths and beat bounce along quite merrily at a nice pace. There are two melodies, with the later slightly more up-tempo; but keeping the happy feel. This is a cheesy tune, but one that works well and has grown on me each time I listen.

Comments I liked this tune within 30 seconds of it starting, always a positive. I really do enjoy that short punchy synth sound and this has it in abundance. 3 good mixes, but this sits nicely as not the longest or shortest; just right. Lots of noise and euphoria this, a classic trance tune dare I say and only 130 BPM as well; so mellow. You wouldn't think so as this delivers a real epic sound and beat; that classic triumphant trance feel that synth sound that really makes you stand up and listen. The melody just kicks fanny in a big way, lots of sound coming from every direction and some nice extra touches in places. It doesn't need to change too much as what you get just sounds good and you will just lap it up. Nice subtle acid type sound towards the end although you will have to listen hard. Almost perfection.

Comments Certainly a good hard start to this, really pounds away for a good few minutes; setting the scene. During the interlude you do get quite an odd synth, which is actually quite pleasing because it's odd. This soon gets replaced with something more normal and then launches into the main anthem. A typical trance sound, but it does build nicely upon the sounds around and adds nicely which in turn adds to the tempo and pace of the track. Melody lasts for a good period of time as well allowing you to really take in what is happening, which is really nice. A well produced piece of trance.

Comments This very much has the remixes feel to things, lots of euphoria and ‘eerie' vocals; which is good because I like that. That said this is very slow to get going, you know what is coming as all the signs and sounds are there; but it is dragged out. Once it gets going you are sufficiently ready and there is also a very simple beep sound to guide you on the journey. Lots of that weird vocal as you would expect, which fit nicely into the overall theme of the tune. Perhaps a bit too heavy and a break should be included, but it's what you expect so it's what you get. A nice tune, nothing more.

Comments This is a chilled tune with a 130 BPM undertone, works nicely. The feel to this reminds me of Chicane when his stuff was at its peak, so a good benchmark. This just sounds right in every way. You have that nice smooth sound, but then it pumps up with a really wicked hard dance edge. Then it slips right back into the water, literally; which means it does lose momentum, but taking into account what the artist is trying to do you do find yourself forgiving. Then like before, you get a really uplifting synth masterpiece with some nice new sounds to really light your brain and ears up. The more I listen to this the more I love it. I just wish the end piece had been longer as the tune would have then been truly masterful. That aside, still an essential purchase

2/5 : Not Bad

Comments I got quite excited about this as there was a super tune by the artist back in April 2011 that I really loved, namely ‘Hold My Hand'. It doesn't live up to that expectation unfortunately. All 3 mixes of this are OK, each offering something different and this was actually the one I least liked when I first heard. I changed my mind. What I don't like about this tune is the piano, which is a sound I usually adore. It sounds so cheesy and out of place and it's used quite a bit; crying shame. The synths try to help this out, but alas the piano persists and it gets to a point where it sounds like the artist has tried to drown it out. The feel and pace of the track is really good and you can feel what the artist has tried to do, but it is let down. This needs the piano taken out, the beat slowed down a touch and a really good epic sound added into the mix. Lots of you will like this and don't get me wrong it's not a bad tune; it just doesn't work for me. Been spoilt with some good tunes of this label lately, perhaps that's it.

Artist Ronski Speed feat. Sir Adrian
Comments I have listened to this artist since his first tune back in 2003 and he has gone up and down in terms of quality. This almost sits in the middle of it all. A very typical club tune has all the usual elements which are well put together. I like the feel of this and the main synth has a real dynamic feel to it, but sadly this is where it ends. The melody is OK, but just not long enough and it's slow to get there. There is an extra bit one the second half, but it's not enough to really do anything special. The tune is quite short, so not a lot of time to grab you. An OK tune which for some reason is getting a lot of airplay.

Comments Well, I love the artists' name! The actual tune isn't brilliant, so let's get that out of the way now. I like the beat, firm and solid and I also like the synth work which reminds me of an old film tune. So, with two likes I was hoping it would build on things, but it doesn't. It just flows through the whole song and doesn't change in any great depth and there's no real melody in the middle to lift things up. This is very progressive, but too slow and not enough change for my liking. Potential is there, it's like the artist mixed a track out of the final production.
