Comments This has just the right sort of sound that I like. Quite a relaxed tune, with some nice soothing synths and sounds; puts me in a nice happy mood (like drinking). Has a real moody feel as well, but that's the super deep bass that you get. Oddly enough, the artist adds a piano which although it sounds good; it does sound a tad out of place. The melody is moody, yet funky; a combination that doesn't always work; but here it does. The latter half of the tune gets an extra piano, which is a nice touch and helps the tune along nicely. This is a good tune and it's missing something to make it very good. Can't tell you what, but it ain't there.

Comments I thought ‘Another World' was a good tune and I really wanted this to be better, but it isn't. The tunes are very familiar in sound and style, which is a good and bad thing. The actual tune is very good, it has lots of depth and feeling to it; always a good thing. The build-up is quite slow and doesn't really draw me in much; I persevere because of the artist. When you hit the melody it sounds nice and that's about it, nothing overly special. The artist clearly has a good ear for music; he just needs to mix it up a bit differently. Still a pleasant sound on the ear though.

Comments From the very beginning you get a really nice feel with this, it's the piano that reverbs along with the beat giving it that funky feel. The tune then suffers with over build up and at the point when you think it has reached its melody it slows down again, this is frustrating. It does eventually get going, but on reflection the way this happens is just so annoying. The melody is actually a nice one, good beats and pianos put this more in the house genre; but badly let down by the haphazard start. Shame, but I will keep my eye on this artist and label.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Luca de Maas
Comments This has a punchy feel to it, the synths are very precise and short in the sound they deliver. This is a deep and dark tune, with all the noises being very much on the edge of space. Perhaps the clue was in the title. Although I like moody tunes, this is a bit too moody in that there is no cheer anywhere within the tune. What you get is that deep dark sound throughout, with not a hint of the sun! There are times this would appeal to me more, but not today and not yesterday when I listened to it either. Good, but not good; if you get my drift.

Comments Nice pounding beat from the start and a techy type synth, so all good. It kind of goes downhill from there as although the beat and vibe continue it doesn't do enough before the melody to get you really interested. The melody does as you would expect freshen things up and it a nice long melody as well, but it just sounds a bit flat. The pounding beat is really the tune, a flat sound throughout. This needs a good bit of synth work to really bring this out. It's a record in waiting.

3/5 : Good
Artist Activa feat. Cat Martin
Comments I will admit to being cautious over this artist, far too hit and miss in my opinion. This hasn't changed my opinion, but has restored some faith. Don't panic about the vocals as they aren't too much. Good beat and a very nice feel to things, quite fresh and springy. Bit slow to get to the melody, but once you do it does have a very Sonic Element feel; so a saving grace. That all said, there could have been so much more to this. A stronger start and a better more vibrant melody and this would have been a stunner. As it stands, it's a good tune.

Comments This has a very nice trance feel to things, right from the beginning. You get that feeling that something special is about to happen and early signs are good on that front. Nice tempo and nice subtle synths in the background to generate a good vibe. It does loose its way a little bit during the slowdown, but soon regains ground when it kicks in with a wicked trance sound. Even has time for a bit of tribal wailing in the background, nice touch. This is a very good club sound and one that delivers that epic trance sound you want to hear, one that will make you cry with pleasure. The melody should have been longer, my only criticism of an otherwise great tune.

Comments After ‘Kestrel' I was very excited to see this. It does follow nicely in its footsteps, but it doesn't have that real kick. The sound is very clear and crisp and there is a very nice synth in the melody. What it doesn't do is lift the track up high enough. It seems content with what it has, which don't get me wrong is good; but it isn't brilliant. The melody is a bit on the short side and at one point I thought there would be a second helping, but alas no. Still a solid sound and a good listen.

Comments Taken from the ‘Brainwave EP' this is my pick of the bunch. Tranceye have been around for a few years and his influence is very prevalent on this tune. A very hard trance sound from the off, really does bang away at the senses. This is trance when it first appeared on the scene, hard and fast. There is a nice break in the middle which really slows tings down before the onslaught starts again. Doesn't change the recipe much, just bang bang bang. There are some nice sounds in the background, but you will have to listen hard. You will think at one point that it is about to end, it doesn't and almost enters into a third melody. This just keeps you going and it works beautifully and then brings you down to earth. Very nice.

3/5 : Good
Artist Jon O'Bir feat. Solar Movement
Comments Taken from the ‘Music Database' album, this is one of the only tunes I really liked, the rest war too vocal heavy. This is a nice melodic tune, nice simple beat and bass line and even simpler synth throughout. A very precise sound, with sounds nice within the whole production. This doesn't break any new boundaries, but it does deliver a nice sound that has some nice feeling within. The best of an OK bunch.

Comments Joof are starting to get back on my ‘good list', some nice tunes recently. This is a real epic trancer that has a very distinct sound, its laree and loud; nice. The feeling of space is immense, with the sounds in the background all over the place; but then they are all brought back together with a wonderful trance melody. This is going back to basics and then adding a bit of ‘here and now' to freshen things up; the result is really good. This kicks you in the face and then kisses you better and then does it all again. The different spectrum of sounds will have you crying for more, your ears will bleed and you'll put back on again, but louder. A real pleasure this and one I wasn't expecting, always my fave.

Comments I didn't like the original of this, so was pleased with a decent remix. This has that hard edge that I used to love on Perfecto tunes, sadly something that has dwindled over the years. This is definitely a journey of sound. Starts quite pacey and then slows things down a tad, with some vocals (of sorts). You then are left wanting as an acid noise kicks in to signal the melody, this bangs away for a bit and you are again left waiting for something to happen, which kind of does. The acid effect is awesome, one of my fave sounds of all time; and it is this that builds the intensity. It does fall a tad short and it also takes a while to get going, but I suspect that is all part of the journey.

Comments First outing for the artist and a good first outing it is, a nice EP. This has a long start so be prepared for that, but it is a fairly long tune. Lots of synth work and noises to get you in the mood, so all good. The main melody has a nice feel to it, moves along nicely and the synths work well in tandem. There is a feeling of urgency that the tune is trying to get somewhere and it does almost get lost, but manages to keep itself going. There is a feeling of same old sound, although the end of the melody does try something different. It needs a bit more. This is a good tune, with a good sound and feel to it.

Comments Been a while since I listened to this artist and glad I took the time with this one. Starts with a real pounding beat and then slows down to a very ambient and atmospheric break; totally opposite end of the music spectrums. The melodic break is really nice, gives the track an extra dimension. The tune then starts to build on top and the way this is done is very clever. Soon after the tune is back in full flow and the whole feeling is different to how it started. Much more euphoric, yet still retaining a nice trance beat and feel to things. Some very nice synth work throughout this track, lots of thought around the production. It needed a more powerful melody or at least one that was longer, but still a nice tune.

Title In Deep Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Pulser feat. Molly Bancroft
Comments This artist defined trance back in 03 with the monster tune ‘My Religion'. He's not been hugely active since then and this track is a much more down tempo affair. Great beat, very solid and just there. The vocals actually work well, not my normal thing; but on this occasion the production really helps them. The melody gets a extra boost with a synth that sounds really cool, different; but simple and to the point. The track then flows very nicely and you will be ‘head nodding'; trust me. This isn't an epic club tune, but is certainly an epic vocal tune from an epic artist. I like this.
