Title Together We Will Be Original Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Scott Lowe, Duncan Brewer & Dan Winter
Comments This is an interesting EP made by quite a few guys. All the tracks are actually pretty good, with this being my pick. There is a very nice throughout this, with a nice ‘plop' sound now and then. At the beginning you get an early treat to what is coming and then the main melody reaffirms intent. The melody is in 2 parts with the second half adding a nice piano to move things along. This is a good tune, but it is nothing you haven't heard before and in places it does quite overly noisy. Worth checking out nonetheless.

Title California Earnest Miller Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist Sandeagle
Comments All 3 mixes of this are worthy of note, but this one stood out for me. At the beginning you get a nice piano and what I can only describe as a funked up harmonica, both work well together. Things do slow down a bit and it takes a while for you to get a feel for where things are going, quite a long time actually. The melody eventually kicks in and it's nothing overly special. Simple synths with a good piano thrown into the mix, plus some atmospheric extras in the background. What I do like is the fact that the artist does introduce a few extra synths, all very different in their sound. If this had lasted a bit longer it would have really made a difference. All in all a good sound, but one that could have been so much better.

Title Helpless Aurosonic Euphoric Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Headstrong feat. Shelley Hatland
Comments Having known Headstrong since before he was famous, I've always looked forward to listening to his tunes; especially when Aurosonic are involved. This is a nice mellow tune, which flows really well and the vocals really help in that quest. The whole feel of this is quite down, but the undertone helps move this along. I like the synths throughout as they sounds really nice and the actual production in terms of blending the sounds works a treat. It's very similar to previous stuff, but then if you like that; perfect.

Title Lost Signal Original Balearic Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Blue Tente
Comments Taken from the EP of the same name, one I had to listen to a few times before going for this tune. The guitar in this does bring back some memories of being in Spain, very well captured. I like the extra synths that swirl around in places, giving this a nice summer feel. Does take a while to get going, which is frustrating as it's quite short. When it does it's not a melody as such, just a combination of sound; very much in the Balearic genre. Nice happy feel, especially if you have been and experienced the atmosphere. Could have been so much more, perhaps a remix in the future to fix.

Title Teleport Nick Sentience Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist Man With No Name
Comments The artists and label were giants in the 90s, so I am so excited to see a series of remixes coming out. This EP wasn't as good as I hoped, with this being the pick. A massive tune that still has that massiveness about it, lovely. This adds some nice vocals in places, but not too much else. It still has the essence of the original, but loses it a little bit. I think this was so huge that to try and remix is a task too much. This still sounds great and if you haven't heard the original then you will really enjoy. More to come from this label keep em peeled.

Artist ReOrder pres. Group Number One
Comments This was originally released as a freebie, yes a freebie; bloody brilliant. It was in celebration for the label hitting a certain number of releases, so many thanks for that. Anyway, it's also a pretty good tune. Nice feel to things and a nice melody in the middle. A very uplifting feel, quite pacey; but doesn't run away with things. The melody is nice and long and does change towards the end by adding some extra synths, which in turn make the tempo feel more pacey. As free tunes go, bring on some more please.

Title Remote Kontrol Adam Nickey Remix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Tania Mann & Peter Dafnous pres. Apollonia
Comments Taken from the ‘Part 3' remixes from Enhanced, easily the best track on the EP; which on the whole was disappointing. This is what you would expect to hear from the artists in question, a melodic trance tune that delivers a trance sound. This doesn't go out of its way to really wow you, although towards the end of the melody there is a nice little extra that spices things up. Not a bad tune, but not one that will blow you away. There's a phrase ‘steady eddie'; here it is.

Title Mahe Temple One Remix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Aerian
Comments This artist is consistently churning out some nice stuff, with this being no exception. Has quite a long delayed start, very much setting the mood; but perhaps overdoing is a bit. It is well over half way before this gets going, which is frustrating as once it is off and running it has a nice deep and rich sound. I like the synth that pops in and out, nice pitch and a very distinct and powerful sound. Good beat and good undertone to compliment, just too long to get going. That said, nice to slow mix with other tunes, so there is always an upside.

Title Fight the Fire Stoneface & Terminal Remix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Andy Moor feat. Sue McLaren
Comments This is OK and listening to this again I am struggling to hear what I first heard. The bit that does catch my ear is the synth work in the main melody, really nice. IN fact the melody moves really well and is let down by the rest of the tune. The vocals are really drab and slow to get the tune moving, which is a shame as it does deserve more. The melody really does rock, but even here the vocals come in and kill it stone(face) dead. This is one of them tunes that should have been more and isn't, a real shame.

Title Sirius Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Martin Libsen
Comments The thing that grabbed me about this tune was the ‘haunting vocals' after a few minutes. They really did stand out and when the synths came in underneath, it really did hit the spot. It's quite a stark difference to the rest of the 140 BPM sound you get. This really does bang away at your senses in quite a big way. This takes all the classic dance noises and throws them together in quite a big way. The melody does add the vocals late on, but they are a tad quiet; or should I say subtle. The big win here is that the tune keeps going. It doesn't do anything different, except it keeps going. I like this, but I was disappointed with the extended melody not doing much. A great club tune though.

Title Better Days Daniel Kandi Proglift Remix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

4/5 niiiccceeeee
Artist Estiva feat. Josie
Comments I hear the Tom Fall remix of this a lot, which is an OK tune; but Kandi comes in with a much stronger tune. So, there are vocals in this tune; which compliment things well so don't panic. It's also progressive so be prepared to wait, but is it worth the wait? Yes and no. Once it's moving along it's a really smooth tune and the vocals really do add to the whole feel. Kandi adds some nice touches though the melody to lift things up and stamp his sound on the tune, all very good stuff. It does in places sound a touch dreary in that the vocals are repetitive; some of you may actually like that. Nice tune nonetheless and worth a listen.
Label Enhanced Recordings : Released August 2011

Title Viola 2005 Tektonik Remix

4/5 niiiccceeeee
Artist Moogwai
Comments This originally came out in 2000 on the mighty Platipus label (reviewed at the time) and got some extra remixes in 2005 and has now been released with everything together. So, it's an old tune; does it hold the test of time? I think so, yes. The sound is quite simple, not as sophisticated as what we have now; but it still sounds good and if I'm honest it sounds different. It's also a pretty chunky 141BPM, so you know to expect some real pace. The main melody kicks in after about 4 mins and is a real sound to contend with. It's just a synth that repeats itself, with an additional synth just underneath to offset things. I liked this 10+ years ago and it is great to hear it now and still like it. There are two melodies, nicely spaced and slightly different. Still a great tune, even though a tad dated.
Label Porcupine Records : Released August 2011

Title I Feel Fine Suncatcher Remix

5/5 niiiccceeeee
Artist Estiva
Comments Taken from the ‘Enhanced Recordings 100 Remix Part 1'; this is given a refresh since its 2009 original release. Actually, this EP itself is very good and it was a tough choice to pick this tune. This has a nice summer feel to it, very ambient in places; but a good sound tune throughout. The melody is very well compiled, with just the right amount of noise where it is needed. It also changes as it progresses, adding some extra synths to really freshen things up. A warm tune, one that will leave you feeling happy; especially as you get towards the end and there is a nice piano break. A well worked tune and a very good remix on the original. The EP is worth the investment as well, some very solid tunes.

Artist Eximinds
Comments This gets down to business very quickly, but it is quite a short tune; so good job. I like this because it just plays trance music, nothing special; just a good sound. The beat is very catchy and this is built upon with some wonderful synths and some weird reverbed vocals, all be it very subtle. The whole ensemble just works for me; it's a shame it's just so short. You really start to get into this tune in a big way and it starts to end; a shame. However, don't let that detract from a super tune.

Title Memory of Me Club Mix

Artist Ferry Tayle feat. Hannah Ray
Comments I don't often go for vocal tunes, but given the artists pedigree I thought this would be worth a chance. This is actually quite a good tune, actually I would dare o so far as to say it's a very good tune. I like the feel, has a nice twangy synth and the vocals don't get in the way. They are there, but subtle enough when they need to; but equally adding some benefit. The tune is a good length and has a nice feel to it, very much a summer feel; but that's down to the synths. This was a lot better than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise.
