Title Second Universe Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Magdelayna
Comments Moody and nice this one, I liked this from the first beat. Progressive to say the least, but when it works; it works and guess what; it works. It's therefore a crying shame that when this looks to be really letting loose; it actually holds back. You will be screaming at this to do more and it won't; it's painful. That aside, it's still a great tune with a fantastic undertone to it, really dark and yet very fresh. I do like this a lot, but because it does fall short it annoys the fuck out of me.

3/5 : Good
Artist Tritonal
Comments I like this group's sound. It's very much of the tech edge of trance, but it has a nice feel to it and the main vive is really punchy. It's a very robotic tune, very organised and very punctual. By that I mean what you expect does happen and when you expect it to happen. This is just something very different to the norm, it's deep and dark in places and in your face at other times; as I say it's different. A welcome change to the usual stuff.

3/5 : Good
Artist Tom Cloud
Comments Like the artists and the remixer, so surely nothing could go wrong as it so often does. You'll be pleased to know it doesn't ! The thing that works here is that the melody is nice and long, not hugely different throughout; but long nonetheless. That for me always works as a build is nice, but the core tune is even better. The tune itself isn't a classic; it's a solid trance tune that will get them toes going. Good solid beat, with a n equally solid synth line throughout; what you'd expect from the artists involved. Nice.

Title Eris Airbourne Angle Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist Jamala
Comments From the off, hard and fast. Lots of build up to a nice anthem. That said, I think the synth is quite weak, sounds a bit limp; needs a bit of punch to really stand out. The bassline is really hard and certainly drives the tune, in places it sounds like it is drowning everything else out. That said, the beat is quite relentless throughout; it just keeps going and going. This is a good thing as the whole vibe of this tune is a happy one, which I really like. The melody is nice and long, all be it similar throughout and long with the driving beat all adds up to a nice little number that's worth a listen.

Comments A very deep and progressive tune this, one which you have to bare with. It has a very retro sound to it, which I think is what initially appealed to me. I think you do need to be a progressive purist to really enjoy this and I'll admit the attraction has worn thin. Very samey throughout and the melody in the middle is a slight lift of tempo. That aside, it does have a nice crisp and fresh feel to it, which I do like. This isn't a club floor filler by any means, it's potentially a nice wind down tune.

Title Self Potrait Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Will B
Comments A typical Will B type tune. Good solid beat with a nice synth to match. Build up is quite long, hints at things to come and teases you long. The melody is then delivered and to be honest it didn't blow me away. I like it as there are two bites, the second coming almost immediately after the first and with that added impetus that lifts the tempo; the thing you really want it to do. The melodies are nice and long, which as always works and although the actual tune itself isn't earth shattering; it does sound nice.

Artist 3rd Moon
Comments Fresh and funky feel to this, right from the kick off. I like the build up, the beat really kicks and there is some great noise going on in the background. You then get the usual break in proceedings, but this then builds up to the main tune. The melody itself is nice, but it doesn't change enough. It's long, but samey and although the sameness is a nice sound, a bit more uplift on the synths would have really does helped this tune out. Don't discount this as what is delivered is a solid tune and one that I still like to listen to.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Earthscape & Andrea Britton
Comments I had to listen to this quite a few times, before it started to grow on me. You have to get past the beginning which is a bit drab, after that things do start to look up. This is the instrumental as I felt the vocals were quite weak. The melody here is a tad on the slow side; it's one of them tunes you have to play loud to really hear what's going on. It's not brilliant, but it has a nice undertone to it that picks up as it progresses. Much more on the progressive side of life and definitely not floor filler, but it has something about it that I quite like. Make your own mind up.

Title Solve the Cube Sean Truby Remix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Elucidate
Comments This is quite a deep tune, which for me is rather unusual. Have a listen, but listen real hard as in the melody there is quite a lot going on in the background which sounds nice. The rest of the tune is a tad dull, it tries hard to do something entertaining, but doesn't really get off the floor if I'm honest. There are some nice elements here, but they are let down by a slow build up and nothing spectacularly in the noise department. It's not awful by any means, could have been better.

Comments This starts really well, nice grove and a nice touch of synth. It follows in that into a rather cheesy melody. It has a really good synth line, but it sounds like a chart record in places. That said, the melody is well enhanced with an extra synth that really does lift the whole tune up quite nicely. There are two melodies here as well, separated with a really nice break beat. The second melody is that little bit more funky, but both sound good and are nice and long. This works well, sounds a tad on the chart side; but as a ‘summer is coming' tune; nice.

Title Double One Timo Pralle Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist Dallaz Project
Comments This is one of those records where you really do have to keep listening. The start is very moody, verging on hard tech and not all that instantly appealing. However, let it run and it turns in to a pretty good little club tune. Only the one melody, but it's a long one with two very distinct parts to it. The synths are on the epic tip, very noisy and in your face; but toned down enough so they are bearable. These are well built upon with some nice euphoric sounds presented into the mix. Not an epic, but should have been.

Title Next Day Waveform Remix

Artist Deimos & Bozi
Comments This is a nice tune. It starts quite slowly, the beat just moves along; nothing overly exciting. The melody then kicks in and the tune really does come to life. Very atmospheric, lots of good noise and all well blended together. Two anthems are thrown in for good measure, both a tad short; but things can't be perfect all the time. The pause between the anthems is a tad on the downside; a bit more tempo would have really sealed this one. Still quality.

Title Iwo Jima Original Mix

Artist Derelict
Comments This starts really well. The beat gets down to business very quickly and the synths are also there from the off. The melody is very euphoric, great synth which builds up to a nice explosion of sound. The whole thing is really well put together and sounds very fresh and funky. The melody is nice and long, not changing too much; but delivering a constant good sound. I like this, it's not earth shattering; but what you hear is good on the ears.

Title Classic Trance Nights Original Extended Mix

Artist Forenetix
Comments There are two very good mixes of this, very hard to tell them apart to be honest. This one is a bit more on the club side of life for me. A very passionate sound, very euphoric and very tance. Two melodies, both very good and in your face. This is just missing a middle, which is a bit flat; otherwise it would be perfection. As it stands, it's a bloody good tune that hits all the right spots and delivers a great trance sound.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Paul Miller pres. Meli
Comments You have to bear with this as it takes a while to get going. IN fact it starts as if it has no idea where it's going! Get to the melody and the sound really goes up a gear, good beat and a nice sound. Nice bit of beat skipping in places, which I really like. The melody is nice and long, doesn't give a lot; but what's there makes the toes tap; which is always a good sign. Not a classic, but worth a listen.
