Title Flare Original Mix

5/5 niiiccceeeee
Artist Dragor
Comments Starts with a really thumping bass line, with a nice edgy tech feel to it. This dies out quite quickly into a very nice melodic build up, lots of feeling and synths and then lets loose. A fantastic melody is then set upon your ears; it's long and really uplifting. First part delivers a great sound, lots of emotions all wrapped up in a very pacey sound. This is then added to with an extra synth that just adds so much more dimension to the whole thing. This is a true classic, be prepared for those hairs on the back of your neck to stand on end and for those arms to wave wildy. Brilliant (as is the other side by the way).

Title Deja Vu Original Mix

Artist Exaya
Comments This has a really sinister start, lots of clicky noises and an underlying feeling of urgency; it's good. There are two very distinct melodies in this, both sounding very different to each other. It's almost as if there are two tunes mixed together. It's not often I hear it, but it works really well. Lots of energy and passion, coupled with lots of good noise and an even better happy feeling. Even when the main melody isn't playing, the tune flows so well and sounds really good. Not much more you could really want from a tune this. It won't suit everyone as it does have some rather loud and harsh synths, but it sounds terrific.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Lange feat. Tracey Carmen
Comments OK, the vocals in this are awful and I have no idea why they are there. I used to be a huge fan of Lange, but his recent change in music direction is not one that I think works. However, I gave this a chance and it isn't too bad. It has the new Lange tech edge to things, but it sounds OK. Two bites at the cherry, both very similar; both very funky. I actually like the hard edge in this case as it blends well with the other synths that accompany things. So the track is an OK one, get rid of the pointless vocals and we might start to get somewhere serious. OK, but not great.

1/5 : Poor
Artist Latego feat. Ian Source
Comments Hhhmmm, not 100% sure what drew me to this record as the beginning is very much something I wouldn't usually like. There is a nice piano break which is almost certainly why I persisted, sadly after that it turns back into a noisy screechy mess of a tune. This sounds very much like music from the late 90s, you remember the stuff that sounded loud and very pointless; but people still leapt all over the place. Here it is revamped for 10 years later and it still doesn't work. Nuff said.

3/5 : Good
Artist Luca De Maas
Comments Cheese all the way this, by that I mean a happy clappy tune. Lots of happy sounds, with up and down synths; reminds me of the film Electric Dreams. Good vibe and feel ain't a bad thing as this does the job in terms of making you smile, especially as winter is now upon us. Good long melody which changes throughout in terms of tempo; but keeps that happy feeling. Is a tad on the busy side, but to be honest it's that kind of tune that gets away with it. I like this, not too often; but first thing in the morning it's a great wake up track.

Title Blind Rage Trance Arts & Luke Terry Remix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Manuel le Saux & Astuni pres. Elexis
Comments This starts really well, but then suddenly dies off; which is a bit sudden. The feel is about right for a good solid club tune and once this hits the main anthem it delivers that. Up to this point, nothing to sing about to be honest. That said, the anthem is nothing you haven't heard before. Take a tried and tested recipe and that's what this is. I like it, sounds funky and fresh; but it doesn't go out of its way to really excite me. Shame.

Title Let's Do Some Living (Wild Horses) Original Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Rocketswitch feat. Subo
Comments I was sent this (thanks Rob) and have to admit I was a tad wary as it featured none other than Subo (the Scottish bird from one of them awful music talent shows). So, you need to approach this was an open mind. Fortunately, the artist has taken some vocals and wrapped a very nice melodic tune around them. This isn't a pumping trance classic and doesn't have a main melody to speak off; it's what I can only say is summer music. Drinking a beer watching the sun go down with some mates with this playing would be about right. I like my chilled music and this goes straight into that collection. It's extremely catchy, so be warned.

Artist Bluebear Project
Comments This has a fantastic feel to it. Starts quite slow, the beat is there but almost plods along. There's a synth that comes into play which lifts the tune up and then it just stops and starts all over with a very different synth, very moog like. The sound then just goes and just keeps going. There are lots of different melodies in here, with piano and rock guitar; which all come to together superbly. On top of this the beat gets much more funky; lifting the tune up. This is just sublime, so much is crammed into so little and it's a joy to listen to. I'm sorry the sample doesn't captcha this in full, but trust me you won't be disappointed.

Artist Airborne Angel
Comments I like this. Starts solid and build sup a nice momentum. Even the stop bit works well and gets going nicely. The melody is a typical club tune. I like the synth as it sounds really nice on the ears, plus the tempo changes to give the song an extra little lift. The synths are very simple and you will struggle to hear them at times, but keep listening as mid melody they explode into life. This is quite unexpected, but very welcome and really does give this tune an extra breath of life. A really cool sounding tune.

Title Cherry Bomb Origianl Mix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Kerris
Comments Kerris has been sending me tracks for some time now and it's always great to listen to home grown music. This is OK. I'm not really into this hard edge type trance, this is very screechy and over uses a synth throughout which I find quite annoying. The pace is pretty good and the sound around the underlying tune is pretty good. It does have that late 90's feel to it, which is probably the synth; sounds a bit yesteryear; if you get my meaning. Not wanting to be overly negative, this will appeal to those who like the sound a bit more hard house, it has a funky beat, sounds well produced; but just doesn't overly do it for me.

Title Khepera Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Aly & Fila
Comments I always listen to these guys, even though I don't generally like them. This is mainly because of their early stuff, really good tunes. This goes some way to restoring my faith. This has a much harder edge than normal and it sounds refreshingly good. Lots of noise in this one, all works really well; bearing in mind there's some real weird ones. The build up to the melody works nicely as well. Starts nice and slow and just builds into a good sound, solid beat and nice synths. The main melody is nice and long, changing quite a bit towards the end which sounds nice and calms things down. A good tune.
Label FSOE Recordings : Released September 2009

Title Winter Dreams Sky Motion Remix

4/5 niiiccceeeee
Artist Bluebear Project
Comments Good funky start with some reverbed synths. This leads into a nice slow down, good atmospheric sound with a great piano thrown in. This cranks up a tad with a much more intense synth, but keeps the same feel; works well. The main melody is just the slow down, but with much more emphasis on sound. It's not ground breaking, but what you hear works well. I've termed it before about going back to basics and this does exactly that. The melody is nice and long with the later part further enhanced with a nice piano break. This is a good fresh sound that has really grown on me over the past month.

Title Sun Racer Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Chosc
Comments This taken from an EP with 6 tunes on it, so in terms of value really good. The bulk of the tunes remind me of Vangelis, which I'm not sure is a good thing. Yes, he was a great artist; but my take is that at times the sound here sounds dated. Fortunately, there is this little number tucked away which caught my ear. It's quite a deep tune, but it has a nice feeling to it with lots of spaced out noises going off. No real melody as such, just a nice long sound with extra bits here and there. With the film ‘Tron 2' coming out, I did wonder if this EP had anything to do with it; just has that feel to it.

Title Freefalling Dennis Sheperd Dub Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Dennis Sheperd & Cold Blue
Comments This is one of them tunes that I played quite a lot to firstly find the mix I liked and then for it to grow on me. You when you listen to a tune and you just want it to really impress, this is one of them and it doesn't quite get there. The melody is actually quite nice, but there's only one of them and it's a tad on the short side. The vocals just don't work at all on any mix and this straight away puts me off. It's an OK tune, one with tons of potential; but the mixes just don't help it out.
Label High Contrast Recordings : Released September 2009

Title Sabotage Three Drives Remix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Sean Cronin
Comments This is quite a bit more pacey than I normal go for, but it's the pace that really attracted me to it. It has quite a hard edged undertone to this and with some really intense synths that add to the whole pace of the tune. The sound is quite different, very direct and very piercing. I like the way everything builds up around it, it sounds really cool and works a treat. This is not for all tastes as the trance purists would probably say it's more techno, but hey; I just like the sound.
