Title Calling You Original Mix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Marninx pres. Monogato
Comments This is an OK tune, bit gloomy in places; but OK. The anthem is OK, quite a high pitch synth that really wakes you up, but not much else. The beat or tempo doesn't change too much, so from a fairly slow start; the anthem doesn't really kick start anything into life. Shame, as other tunes from this artist have been good. This isn't bad, just not particularly exciting.

3/5 : Good
Artist Mirco de Govia
Comments This has a really nice fresh feel to it. Starts with a good solid funky beat and then slows down to a nice melodic build up. This is a very synth heavy build up, with the odd noise thrown in for good measure; but it gets progressively heavier, until the beat slowly kicks in. Steady anthem, very upbeat and euphoric; a typical ‘classic' MdG sort of tune. The anthem us quite long, but just not long enough. It does fade out when you think it's going to continue and then the song plays to an end. A nice song, all be it too short; needs s solid remix.

Comments I like this guy, always deliver a good sound. This is just that, although it not earth shattering stuff. Nice solid beat throughout and two good melodies thrown in for good measure. Both don't really take off, although one does feint to do so. There's an extra happy synth thrown in for good measure in places, but it needed a bit more uumpph than that. As club tunes go, you won't go far wrong with this one as it has a good sound and solid beat, the sort of stuff your average clubber wants to hear.

3/5 : Good
Artist Depeche Mode
Comments Not much to say about this crowd, but they were bloody brilliant in their days; so to get a modern remix is always good stuff. From the off, you get little snippets of the original tune; which really tease. There are some great mood bits here, but not enough real substance to really get them hairs standing up. That said, I loved this tune first time round so it's quite nostalgic to hear a funky remix. When the anthem does kick in, the memories continue to come flooding back and it really works quite well. Perhaps not a real club anthem, but for us oldies a true classic.

3/5 : Good

Comments There's something about this tune that appeals. When it starts, you'd be forgiven you were about to listen to a drum and bass number, but it soon settles down. It actually turns into quite a crazy little tune. Very fast changing synth throughout, on top of quite a simple beat. It has a very catchy vibe to it, very happy. Doesn't do much else, except for changing the tempo here and there; but it works. I have to admit, a surprise hit for me.

3/5 : Good
Artist Dmitri Federov
Comments This is a nice club tune, very happy and very epic. Bit slow to get going which is annoying and it starts quite well and then slows off, but I should expect that these days. The downside is that it then takes an age to get going. OK, it's a nice mellow build up; but too long. Once it kicks in a very pacey tune, with lots of noise. The melody is further complimented with an alternate synth, although this is short lived. The tune then sets off again, quite unexpectedly which is what rescues this from the ‘so so' pot. A great club tune and one that you will almost certainly here at peak time.

Title Afterglow of Sunset Club Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Northern Skyline
Comments This is a classic trance sounding tune, straight out of your average club. Has a fast beat and a real screechy sound to it, which does go on a bit in places. That aside, the main thrust of this tune is really quite uplifting. The noise stays, but there's a real atmospheric undertone thrown in for good measure and this is what really lifts this. It borders in places as being a bit of a classical style tune. The anthem is long as well and changes tempo throughout, which works wonderfully well. A slow start for this tune, but once it gets going it's a really cool tune.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Salt Tank
Comments A classic tune if there was and one I still feel shouldn't be messed with. As far as reworks go, this isn't a bad one. I'm not a huge fan of Tiesto, but he does try to keep the essence of the original and it kind of works. The problem I have is that I think the original of this was brilliant and although a lot people probably haven't heard it, I have. Classics should be left well alone as they are classics for a reason. This is OK and I am biased, but hey; it's only my opinion.

Title Your Picture Robert Nickson Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist Deep Voices
Comments You have to keep listening to this as it's the end of the tune you want, not the beginning. I have to admit I almost turned this off, but being a fan of the remixer I kept at it. The vocals actually work after a while, you just have to get used to a bloke's voice rather than a female. The main anthem is a really great sound and is one you have to listen to loud as it just delivers. The vocals here work really well and give it that extra something. The rest of the tune is kind of average, but for 60 seconds of pleasure, listen to the anthem on this one.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Vincent de Moor
Comments From old I love this guy, of late not that good and I always feel that people are struggling if they rework old tunes. Fortunately this is probably better than the original, so for once it has worked. It does get a bit heavy in places, but the main anthem is nice and fresh and moves nicely. The sound is also edging on the tech side of things, which I don't normally like; but it keeps a nice dance element as well. Worth a listen, but not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
