Title Mass Panic Gareth Emery Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist Cupa
Comments I never understand why artists remix their own work, what was wrong with it first time around ? This is pretty good although the main theme is a bit overboard in that it's quite screechy. It is very different and is well accompanied by some nice noises and synths, but it's a bit screechy. There are two themes, which are both well put together and move along well. Nothing overly different, just a good tune.

Artist Faraway Project
Comments Lots going on here, quite a noisy tune which gets a bit complicated in places. Got a real good euphoric feel to this. Good thumping bass line with some nice synths delivering the main sound. Tempo changes a bit in places, just to shake it up and give it that slightly different feel. The main anthem is quite long and sounds just right really. Good club tune as it has all the elements you'd expect.

Comments The first outing on this new label and a very good first offering it is. This has a really cool acid sound in it, which being an old boy and remembering it first time round is well good. Hard to describe where exactly this sits as the piano anthem tips it towards the mellow edge, whereas the beat funks this up. For once, the pause in the middle works well as the piano is well accompanied by a haunting synth, sounds good. This then launches into a well cool tune with all the previous feel but a much faster sound. It's a shame it just lacks that killer touch, otherwise this would be cum stain territory.

Title Polarise Factoria Remix

3/5 : Good
Artist Ian Betts & Oceanforce
Comments Thumping bass from the off tell you that this is just going to pound at your ears for the entire 8 minutes. Not bad this tune, feels very clubby and has that euphoric Factoria edge. Got some nice triumphant sounding synths and the main anthem does kick butt quite nicely. It doesn't grab you by the nuts and squeeze hard, but it does get you to listen. Doesn't change too much, but it doesn't need to as that would only over complicate what we have. The strength this tune has is that the choruses are both close together and this gives it added momentum, which I really like; no long pauses. This is a good solid tune that you won't go wrong with.

Title Daydream Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist Tyler Michaud & Shawn Mitiska
Comments For a tune with such a title I was half expecting a fairly mellow affair, whereas this sits nicely in the middle. Good rough tribal beat and some relatively basic synth work blended with a sort of Oz feel. That said, this does dwell a bit without doing much to keep you interested, so do bear with it. Once the main theme has kicked in it's a very pleasant tune that moves and sounds good. Some nice work goes on in the background to enhance the piano and beat and this works well. It's a shame there is only one chorus and that the beginning is so drawn out.

Title Closer Now Whiteroom Remix

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Filo & Peri feat. Fisher
Comments This is a really deep tune with a really deep and thumping bass line. The vocals are somewhat distorted throughout, apart from the main bit where they come together. Not sure if I like them as they do rattle on quite a bit and don't really add much to the tune. In fact, I can't say that this even has a main melody to it. Just when you think it's going to kick in, it doesn't. I find this really amazing in a tune as when it does happen, its right at the end, odd or what. Not a bad effort, just a bit too disjointed for my liking.

Title Ballerina Original Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Adam White ft. Martin Grech
Comments Seriously fucked up vocals just about sum part of this tune up. I don't know what the artist was on, but he really should lay off it. Take the vocals away and this is a pretty good tune. Pacey and with feeling, which is all you can ask for. Good solid 135 BPM, very typical sort of tune from the Darey stable. Then there's the vocals which almost ruin this tune. Look for a Dub of some sort, you will want to.

2/5 : Not Bad
Artist Extempo
Comments This is OK, nothing brilliant; just a half decent attempt at making music. Bit on the tribal side, which at the beginning does sound quite appealing. This plods around a bit without doing too much and then just explodes. It gets very hard and techno a bit too fast for my liking. Very much noise on noise and in your face, one for the hard heads. That said, this is only a 130 BPM number; but when in full flow sounds much much faster. Not my cup of tea.

Title Viola 2005 TekTonik Remix

5/5 niiiccceeeee
Artist Moogwai
Comments This was OK when it first came out in 2000 and I'm always wary of OK tunes being remixed. I'm glad to say that this is a top tune and has been remixed exceptionally well. TekTonik wade in with the best mix, very reminiscent in places of their Art of Trance ?Mongoose? remix. In fact you would be mistaken for thinking this was an AoT tune it sounds so similar. Great piano work in the middle and the main chorus moves and works so well, especially with the wailing voice. This is a very fresh sounding tune and a very welcome addition to my collection.

Artist Kenny Hayes
Comments I got sent this exclusive mix by My Kenny Hayes himself, so many thanks Kenny. The Original of this was OK, but it lacked that typical KH feel to it. You will be pleased to know that this has been addressed in this mix and now delivers a much more funky fresh feel. Feels a bit like 2 tunes, with the beginning being very Ibiza and building up to the main anthem. Once going this si a great club tune with lots of feeling in it. A great remix.

Title Blue on Blue Octagen Dub

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Alucard pres. The 49th Line
Comments Alucard is generally someone I would associate with melodic progressive tunes, whereas this is much more on the heavier tip. This is a welcome change as this has a nice clear sound and feel to it. A very euphoric sound throughout which just makes them hairs tingle. Solid beat throughout and no horrible long pauses in the middle, they are fairly short. A nice tune that moves well and sounds good and a welcome change of direction for the artist.
Label Somatic Sense : Released February 2005

Title Love Poison Ryan G Remix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Envio
Comments This has a really nice feel to it, a really cool progressive trance start as well. Good hard beat that gradually builds up to a brill crescendo of sound. Almost sounds Greek in places !! Has a nice stop where the rhythm changes before laying down a nice guitar solo with some good melodic synths in the background. This is a cross between trance and chilled and it works almost really well. There is a bit in the beginning where it's just bass and it doesn't suit the tune. That aside this is a really nice tune that moves along well and sounds pleasantly different.
Label A State of Trance : Released February 2005

Title Isolation Original Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist George Hales
Comments ?Autumn Falls? was a great tune so I was keen to have a listen to the latest outing from GH. This follows on very nicely and has a really good trance feel and sound to it culminating in a really good chorus. Solid beat that is progressively built on throughout the track and a catchy bit of synth work that is built on with some nice atmospheric synths later in the track. The downer is that the choruses are too short which lets down all the other hard work. A good tune nonetheless.
Label Lange Recordings : Released February 2005

Title Sunrise at Palamos Sunquest Mix

3/5 : Good
Artist M.I.K.E.
Comments I'm not a huge fan of MIKE as I find his stuff a bit on the grim and bleak side, but this did perk my ears up. For the name of the song, this is quite a hard tune; but an OK one. The chorus is really long, which is what I like so much about it. It doesn't change all that much, but in places there's a nice break beat that just sounds different to the rest of the tune. The anthem does goes on a few times as well and it's a fairly hard driving tune, with a good solid bass line.
Label Sub Scan Digital : Released February 2005

Title Intoxicate Matt Darey Mix

This text will be replaced by the flash music player.

3/5 : Good
Artist Matt Darey pres. DSP
Comments For Mr Darey, this has a different sound rather than the usual club sounding stuff that he produces. Has a long build up which does sort of loose it's way after a while, but fortunately gets back on track before it starts to get tedious. This works well for me. The beat is good and the synth work well in conjunction with it. It's also a fairly long chorus so you can immerse yourself in the sound. All that said, it's nothing overly brilliant; this is just a good solid club tune.
